Meet Marquita Jones, FNP-C

Marquita Jones is a certified family nurse practitioner with 3.5 years of experience as a nurse practitioner and more than 14 years of pediatric nursing experience. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner studies from Tennessee State University.

Marquita provides evidence-based, family-centered care focused on the overall health and well-being of each patient. She emphasizes preventive care, thoughtful diagnosis, and clear communication with families. When children have more complex medical needs, she collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure they receive coordinated, comprehensive care.

Marquita’s path to becoming a pediatric provider began at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, where she first worked as a nursing assistant before continuing her education and becoming a pediatric nurse. As a member of the hospital’s float pool, she cared for children throughout every inpatient area. These experiences strengthened her passion for pediatrics and inspired her to become a nurse practitioner.

One of the things Marquita enjoys most about pediatrics is helping children feel better while reassuring their parents that their child is receiving excellent care. She values the opportunity to build lasting relationships with families and care for children from infancy through young adulthood.

Marquita especially enjoys supporting and educating new parents. She finds it rewarding to watch parents grow from feeling nervous or uncertain into confident caregivers. Through education, encouragement, and practical guidance, she helps families recognize that they are capable and doing a wonderful job caring for their children.

When she is not caring for patients, Marquita enjoys:
  • Family Time: Spending quality time with her family
  • Traveling: Exploring new places around the world with her husband
  • Bowling: Enjoying one of her favorite hobbies
